PriceHound was created with a simple goal: to help Australian shoppers find the best deals without spending hours comparing prices across different websites. We believe everyone deserves access to competitive pricing information, and that's exactly what we provide.

In today's fast-paced retail environment, prices can change multiple times a day. The same product might be on sale at one store while being full price at another. Without a tool like PriceHound, consumers would need to visit dozens of websites just to ensure they're getting a fair deal.

We've built PriceHound to be the easiest way to compare prices across Australian retailers. Whether you're looking for a new TV, laptop, kitchen appliance, or any other product, we help you find the best price in seconds.

Transparency is core to PriceHound. Here's exactly how we collect, verify, and present pricing data.

Data Collection

We use a combination of direct API integrations and automated web scraping to collect pricing data from 13+ Australian retailers. Where available, we connect directly to retailer APIs (such as Shopify and Algolia product feeds) for real-time accuracy. For other retailers, our scraping infrastructure visits product pages on automated schedules throughout the day.

Update Frequency

Prices are checked and updated multiple times daily. Each product page displays exactly when the price was last verified, so you always know how fresh the data is. Our scraper infrastructure runs on automated schedules via a centralised job scheduler.

Price Accuracy

We display the price as listed on each retailer's website at the time of our last check. Prices may change between checks. We do not include shipping costs (which vary by location and retailer) unless the retailer includes them in the listed price. Sale prices, member-only discounts, and coupon codes are shown when detected.

Product Matching

We match the same product across multiple retailers using a combination of product identifiers (GTIN/EAN barcodes, MPN, model numbers) and intelligent name matching. This ensures you're comparing the exact same product, not similar alternatives.

Independence

PriceHound is fully independent and not affiliated with any retailer. We do not accept payment from retailers to influence rankings. Products are sorted by price by default — the cheapest option always appears first. When you click through to a retailer, we may earn a commission through affiliate programs, but this never affects the order or visibility of listings.
